I have more than 15 years of experience in research focusing on microbial physiology, microbial ecology, synthetic biology and biochemistry and about 10 years experience in Industrial Microbiology including developing and analyzing processes, identifying suitable technologies and equipment as well as planning and transferring technologies to industrial scale production following 21 CFR 117 regulations.
As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Earth Sciences Division at LBNL, I worked on optimizing plant host-microbe interactions, by harnessing microbial functions for sustainable agriculture of bioenergy crops. I obtained my doctorate in Microbiology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, where I used a synthetic biological approach to generate microbial powered electricity. I received my Diploma in Biochemistry and Microbiology at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany, and I was visiting scholar at Stanford University.
